Euphorbia meloformis commonly called the ‘Melon Spurge’ referring to its resemblance to a miniature melon is native to South Africa.

As its common name suggests, this Euphorbia has a circular, slightly elongated stem that resembles a small melon. Each plant sports between 8 to 12 prominent ribs that run vertically along its surface enhancing its round shape. Usually when kept in optimal light this plant has contrasting colours of a light green with a purple-brownish stripe along each rib.

During its flowering season, this Euphorbia produces small, yellow cyathia (a type of inflorescence unique to Euphorbias) that emerge from the ribs near the top of the plant.

Like most euphoria, meloformis thrives in bright, indirect light. It’s best to water moderately during the growing season and allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Using a well-draining soil mix specifically formulated for succulents or cacti will help the plant dry out quick enough to prevent any rotting.

Each living plant is unique and may vary slightly in size, colour, or shape depending on the season. Flowering plants are sent when available.
