Begonia U400 was introduced by Don Miller from the Penang Botanical Garden, Penang Island in Malaysia in 1990. U400 is a rhizomatous begonia that has large oval leaves. The leaves themselves are silver with wide greyish green veins and leaf margin. There is a small red dot at the point of petiole attachment. It grows into a large full mound. It is a fast grower, and makes a bushy specimen plant.

This Begonia prefers shade to partial sun to prevent sun damage. Some browning of the edges of the leaves can also occur when the humidity is to low.

Like most begonias this stunner prefers a loose, well-draining soil to ensure adequate air-rating of the roots and ensure its not to stay too wet. These begonias prefer to be on the drier side, to ensure over watering does not occur only water when potting medium is almost completely dried out.

Please note that Begonias are notorious for not posting well, so keep in mind that you may receive a plant with floppy/brown edged leaves. They generally bounce back pretty quickly and will push out fresh leaves once potted up.

(You will receive a bare rooted plant similar to the one seen in the images. Each living plant is unique and may vary slightly in size, colour or shape.)
