Monstera ‘Standleyana Albo Variegata’
Monstera standleyana originates from tropical areas of Costa Rica, Honduras and Panama. It is grown best when allowed to climb, a mature plant has a neat layered or "stacked" appearance. It does also look amazing when grown hanging but the leaves will generally have larger gaps between them preventing that stacked look. Standleyana is an easy growing plant with oval leaves that are a deep green colour and have a mix of speckles, splashes and broad bands of pure white on them.
This species of Monstera does not develop fenestrations (holes) in the leaves as it matures. Instead it has lance shaped leaves that are a beautiful glossy green with variable white variegation.
This monstera like most is a variety that prefers indirect bright light if the lighting isn’t adequate it can impact the variegation of the plant. It grows best in higher humidity levels of around 60%. It is however very hardy and it will also grow in lower humidity well as well. Some browning of the edges of the leaves can also occur when the humidity is too low – normally the variegation sections are the first part of the plant to be affected.
Its best to use a loose, well-draining soil to ensure adequate air-rating of the roots and ensure its not to stay too wet. To ensure over watering does not occur only water when the top two inches of the potting medium is dry.
They propagate from stem cuttings very easily. Just snip below a node, place into water and wait a few weeks then transplant to soil. Or simply put straight into soil and keep soil moist until well rooted.
(You will receive a bare rooted plant, similar to the ones seen in the images. Each living plant is unique and may vary slightly in size, colour or shape.)
