Pilea cadierei is commonly called the ‘Aluminum Plant’ or ‘Watermelon Pilea’ due to its foliage resembling the pattern on the outside of a watermelon. This stunning compact indoor plant has light green, oval shaped leaves with silver, raised, patches on the leaves.

This plants is perfect for bathrooms and kitchens, outside on a shaded frost-free patio, accent planting in tropical gardens. It is an ideal plant for terrariums and bottle gardens.

Being a Pilea this plant naturally helps purify the air, not only is this plant beautiful to look at but it’s also helping clean the air you breathe! These plants are perfect for indoor displays, patios and garden beds.

☀️This plant requires bright, indirect light but harsh direct sunlight needs to be avoided as this can scorch the leaves.

💧Pilea like their soil to be kept evenly moist and it’s best not to let them completely dry out in between waterings as the leaves can start to droop.

〰️These plants don’t require higher levels of humidity, however if you see the leaf edges begin to dry and brown it can be that the ambient humidity is too low. You will generally start to see signs of this at the tips of the leaves. This isn't detrimental to the plant's health, but can look unsightly. You can increase humidity in your home by misting, grouping plants close together or sitting pot plants on a saucer filled with pebbles and water.

🌡️Like most popular houseplants, Pilea prefer temperatures in the 18°C-30°C which is similar to their tropical native habitat.

🍴It’s best to feed regularly during the warmer months and reduce frequency in winter. Alternatively, use a controlled release fertiliser at the beginning of spring and autumn.

✂️Remove dying or browning leaves and stems as required. Otherwise, there is no need to prune. They propagate from stem cuttings very easily. Just snip below a node, place in water and wait a few weeks and it’s that easy. Fast to root, easy to transplant to soil. It also very easy to separate clumps by untangle the root ball and simply potting each clump separately. This plant is made for propagating given its growth rate!

🪴Pilea prefers a well-draining potting mix.

(Each living plant is unique and may vary slightly in size, colour, or shape depending on the season. Flowering plants are sent when available. You will receive a bare rooted plant similar to the ones in the pictures provided.)
